Route du Rhum - Day 4 sees more repairs La Coruna
Skippers and now getting into the rhythm at sea, sea sickness gone, first hot meals! Weather improving for the Ultimates. The Biscay and Portuguese Atlantic coast line is still seeing an unsettled south westerly airflow for the Class 40's, Rhum Class.
ULTIMATES
(See boats in RED): The Ultimates now enjoying tradewinds and more settled weather. Loic Peyron stampeding ahead, just had time yesterday to cook his first hot meal. Spindrift in second place. The majority of the other classes are experiencing the unsettled SW airflow.
IMOCA
(Blue boats) Tanguy Delamotte has rejoined the race after fixings his damaged rudder mountings in Brest (Initiatives Couer is the blue boat by Cape Finistere heading south). The IMOCA pack are still being lead by MACIF who has lead since the start of the race.
MULTI 50's
(Orange boats) The Multi 50's are in two distinct packs, just on the outer edge of the unsettled weather. 11 started, only 5 left in the race.
CLASS 40's
(See boats in Yellow) 7 Class 40's have abandoned the race, 36 still competing. Solidaires En Peloton - Thibaut Vauchel-camus leading the Class 40 pack on day 4 of the Route Du Rhum. Alex pell in third place 19.4 miles away from the leader. Looks like two class 40's have pulled into La Coruna, Nicolas Thomas on Guadaloupe Grand Large 1001 Piles Batteries & Christophe Coatnoan on Normandie Sussex.
RHUM
The Rhum class are an interesting mix of boats and Skippers. Sir Robin on Grey Power strategy was to start safely, get through the first couple of days bad weather, get into the rhythm then start to power the boat up. Grey Power now in 7th place. Anne Casseneurve with her Trimaran Aneo almost opposite Cape Vincent and soon into the easier weather should really start to pull away from the pack. Andrea Mura on Vento Di Sardegna whilst in the lead will be experiencing the unsettled SW airflow. Bob Escoffier on Group Guisnel was airlifted due to water ingress at 11.55.
