La mayoría de los corredores dicen que les apasiona la navegación; mi pasión son los barcos que vendemos. Tengo la oportunidad de experimentar tantos tipos diferentes de barcos, de todas las formas y tamaños y un poco de lo que me gusta llamar 'propietarios'. He conocido a gente maravillosa y he tenido el privilegio de participar en los sueños de muchos clientes que se han convertido en buenos amigos.
Dirijo Boatshed Portsmouth en la costa sur del Reino Unido. El puerto de Portsmouth es un lugar muy interesante para amarrar un yate; ya sea a vela o a motor, siempre suceden muchas cosas en este histórico puerto naval. Portsmouth es el hogar del Mary Rose de Henry VIII (1508), el buque insignia de Lord Nelson HMS Victory (1805) , el primer buque de guerra británico con casco de hierro HMS Warrior (1860), el submarino de la Segunda Guerra Mundial recientemente restaurado HMS Alliance (1940) y, desde el verano de 2014, el portaaviones. A lo largo de los años, he apoyado regularmente los desafíos de natación locales de Anna Wardley, como su nado alrededor de la Isla de Wight en 2013, como voluntaria como su apoyo en tierra. El desafío de natación de este año involucró a un grupo de nadadores de distancia novatos que nadaron desde Stokes Bay, Gosport hasta Ryde, IOW. ¡Yo era una mamá nadadora ! Tenía un grupo de 5 nadadores que guié de manera segura a través del Solent, incluso a través del concurrido canal de envío. Todo el equipo recaudó más de £ 25,000.00 . Fue un momento de orgullo.
Aparte de guiar a los nadadores por Bramble Bank, esquivar los buques portacontenedores y apoyar los eventos de caridad locales, casi todo mi tiempo lo dedico a listar los botes para la venta, comercializarlos a posibles compradores, organizar visitas a los botes y manejar las ventas y compras. Ha sido un año ajetreado para Boatshed Portsmouth. Además de propietarios nuevos en Boatshed que nos confían la venta de sus barcos, un gran número de antiguos propietarios y compradores anteriores han comprado y vendido con nosotros, lo que siempre es un cumplido. Aunque las condiciones del mercado local siguen siendo sólidas, me complace mucho informar que Boatshed Portsmouth sigue atrayendo barcos de motor y de vela usados de calidad, para los que trabajamos arduamente para encontrar los compradores adecuados. ¡Estamos vendiendo prácticamente todos los barcos que enumeramos en este momento y necesitamos más barcos para vender!
